NCCN organized a Conference of Church leaders in Kathmandu Valley on the topic "New Constitution of Nepal and Religious Freedom" in Staff College, Lalitpur on 18 May 2008. About 300 Church leaders from different churches in Kathmandu and representatives from different parts of the country participated in the programme.

The central committee member of CPN (Maoist) Mr. Barshaman Pun , who also looks after the Law and Human Rights department of CPN (Maoist) was the Chief guest of the programme.
Addressing the conference, Mr. Pun expressed his party's views in favor of Secular state and full religious freedom in new constitution of Nepal. He said that state should behave all religious communities in equally.

all political parties to ensure the full religious freedom in the new constitution of Nepal. He also raised the issues and problems being faced by the Christian community of Nepal like the problem of burial place for the dead body and legal provision for registration of the Church and Para church organizations.

Mr. Kamal Thapa, one of the board members of NCCN, presented NCCN's concept paper regarding the present situation of the country, new constitution of Nepal and religious freedom.
Addressing the conference as guest speakers the president of World Hindu Federation Mr. Damodar Gautam, Monk Chandra Kirti representing Buddhist community, Mr. Najarul Husain representing Islam community, representatives of other religious groups, members of civil society, human rights activists expressed their views and demand for the full religious freedom in the new constitution of Nepal to be drafted by the Constituent Assembly.
The programme was chaired by Mr. Simon Gurung, the president of NCCN and welcome speech and inaugural prayer was done by Mrs. Ishwori Shrestha and Mrs. Astha Maya Lama respectively.
